Cookie Policy

What this site stores in your browser, which today is almost nothing.

Draft for legal review. This document was prepared to reflect how Xpress Recruiters actually handles personal data, and to follow the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and, where it applies, the UK/EU GDPR. It has not been reviewed by a practising data protection lawyer. Items marked [to confirm] need a decision from the business before this page is published.

Short version This website currently sets no advertising or analytics cookies. It loads no third-party trackers, no social widgets and no external fonts. The only browser storage in use is a small record of your own cookie choice, and it is only created once you make one.

What is actually in use today

NameTypePurposeExpires
xr_consentStrictly necessary, first partyRemembers your cookie preference so we do not ask again6 months

That is the complete list. Strictly necessary storage does not require consent under either framework, because without it we could not honour the choice you made.

Our web host also keeps standard server logs, including your IP address. Those are records held by the server, not cookies placed on your device.

What we deliberately do not do

  • No Google Analytics or any other analytics, at present.
  • No advertising or remarketing pixels.
  • No social media tracking widgets.
  • No externally hosted fonts - our typefaces are served from our own domain, so no third party sees your IP address as a result of visiting us.
  • No cross-site tracking, and no sale or sharing of personal data for advertising.

If that changes

If we add analytics later, a consent banner will appear before any such cookie is set, with "Reject" as easy to click as "Accept". Nothing beyond the strictly necessary category will run unless you opt in, and you can change your mind at any time using the link in the footer of every page.

Controlling cookies in your browser

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Because this site does not depend on cookies for anything except remembering your preference, blocking them will not stop the site working - you will simply be asked again on your next visit if we ever add an optional category.

The legal position

The DPDP Act 2023 governs personal data generally rather than cookies specifically; where a cookie identifies you, the data it produces is personal data and needs a lawful basis. Under the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules, storing or reading anything on your device requires consent unless it is strictly necessary for a service you asked for. Our current position - one first-party preference cookie and nothing else - sits inside both.
